We will attempt to identify
any biological specimen that is brought in to us. In the past
we have identified a wide range of items including plants,
insect pests, bird eggs, rocks or fossils, and a number of rare and scientifically important specimens have come to light. Where necessary
we will arrange to have a particularly difficult specimen
examined by outside experts.
Visitors are also welcome to identify their own finds in
our well stocked Natural History Reference Library with experienced
staff members on hand to provide assistance.
To use the identification service, please email detailed
photographs of the specimen or bring it to the Monkton Nature
Reserve Field Centre.
There is no charge for this service but donations towards
the upkeep of the reserve are very welcome.
For the identification of objects of archaeological interest
you can contact the Trust
For Thanet Archaeology.
