Services for Schools (Field Poppy - Papaver rhoeas)

Supported by Thanet District Council

The Reserve and Field Study Centre are popular with school groups looking for a varied, hands on educational visit.

Visits can be co-ordinated to suit ages, interests, time available and seasonal changes on the Reserve.

A varied programme can be offered to keep the children’s interest focused on the subjects chosen. You choose to spend the time with us indoors or on the Reserve or a mix of both.

The Field Centre has displays and touchable fossils and artefacts that stimulate the interest of those visiting us – both young and old!

There is a picnic area, toilets, a great second hand book shop which has a huge selection of children’s books, (browse there if the weather is bad!), plenty of displays to look at and learn.

If your number of children needs to be transported by coach our car park has room for two coaches. We allow disabled visitors to drive down the drive to the front doors for easy access.

The Trust is pleased to announce that Dave Edgar and Diane Crush, both recently with the Canterbury Nature reserve, have joined the Thanet Countryside Trust. Both are very experienced in conservation work as well as dealing with school visits. Your school group can plan a structured or casual visit and will be ably taken care of by either Dave or Diane.

Charges for school visits are £3.00 per person including teachers, workers and/or parents. This charge covers up to a 3 hour morning or afternoon visit.
